MAJORCA

I love Majorca At the end of May while on holiday there I discovered an amazing FREE gallery in Soller with an exhibition of ceramics by Pablo Picasso and beautiful paintings and etchings by Joan Miro. My other favourite place in Majorca is Deia where Robert Graves lived and is buried. This rock at Cala Deia is nicknamed Henry Moore's rock. On the last day I found this 1950's (rather non-PC) tray in the apartment where I was staying, it seemed to match perfectly with the retro shop sign and post box I had seen earlier in the day. Happy days.

What a wonderful hidden treasure of a gallery! I saw the ceramics at the R.A. in 1998 - fantastic exhibition. But I think I'd rather see them in Majorca and climb on Henry's rock! My copy of Homemade finally arrived at our little prefab library! I'm going to collect it tomorrow! Can't wait! t.x

We currently have a large Henry Moore exhibit at our Botanical Garden. Amazing. I can easily see why the rock earned its name.

Picasso's ceramics are some of my favourite of his works, I love them. When we visited the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, I was disappointed they didn't have more of his ceramics on display, I thought they'd have a good collection.
Now I'm definitley going to have to go to Majorca, after seeing your photos! Vanessa x (do you mind if i knit)
